OIP evidence-first guide

SEC filing research

Learn how OIP organizes official SEC 8-K, 10-Q and 10-K filings while keeping filing facts separate from interpretation and market predictions.

Form 8-K: event report

An 8-K reports specified material events. Start with the filed form and exhibits, then keep the filing fact separate from any interpretation of business or market impact.

Form 10-Q: quarterly report

A 10-Q is a quarterly report that includes unaudited financial statements and management disclosures. Compare the period covered, not only the filing date.

Form 10-K: annual report

A 10-K is an annual report with audited financial statements, business description, risk disclosures and other required sections. Amendments are separate filings and should remain identifiable.

Identity and evidence

OIP anchors tracked issuers to SEC CIK. Ticker symbols are aliases, and every OIP finding links back to official filing evidence.

Research boundary

Use filings as evidence, not predictions

OIP reports what was filed. It does not rate the company, interpret financial performance, recommend a security or predict market impact.
